Bumps

All roads have bumps, journeys have detours, apples have worms.  Ok, so maybe not all apples have worms.  My journey has had a few bumps.  My pathology report changed from triple negative to HER2 positive when the actual mass was removed and biopsied.  This meant a change in chemo plans. Next, another surgery as I got an infection and had to have the spacer on my right side removed and the cavity cleaned.  So now I have my port a cath installed on my chest (no IV's yay!!) and have healed from all surgeries, and am due to start chemotherapy on Monday, 10/19/15. (TCH+P is the lovely name of my chemo cocktail) I will have treatment every 21 days for 5 months, followed by a year of just the P portion of the cocktail.  I am looking forward to getting this next phase rolling and dreading it at the same time.  If you have any extra positive thoughts, please send them my way.

  9. Sending very positive thoughts. Just for some hope, my oldest friend had HER2+ breast cancer (stage 4 at diagnosis) and after a similar regimen has now been cancer free for 10 years, so the odds are in your favour! Hang in there and take care of yourself. Hecerptin really can be a wonder drug. Sending a bunch of happy thoughts bigger than my fabric stash

  11. Wishing you all the best, and much physical, emotional and spiritual healing. I went through surgery (mastectomy) and chemo this year for stage II breast cancer (Her2 neg) and found particularly good advice on breastcancer.org and foodforbreastcancer. It was also helpful for me to read breast cancer survivor stories on Faces of Breast Cancer, a special on the New York Times website.

  12. I just found your blog. Thank you for sharing about your diagnosis and treatment. I am HER2 positive (two spots of cancer - one is invasive and the other is in situ - both are ductal) and have finished the 3rd of 6 chemo treatments. I'll have a double mastectomy in March. I totally relate to the absent sewing desire - what can I sew that will fit later? All the best to you!
